Green Data Centers

It seems once again that education and industry are combining in the pursuit of green.  According to the Business Week, Syracuse University of New York and IBM are collabarating to create a green data center.  This was made public through an announcement of Friday by the two partners in Syracuse, New York.

The progress being made on the $12.4 million, 6,000-square-foot facility on the Syracuse University campus is impressive.  IBM stated that it would be one of the most efficent data centers in the world and would include an onsite electrical co-generation system.  The generation system will use natural gas-fueled micro-turbine engines to generate all electricity and provide cooling for the computer servers.  KeenforGreen.com wishes the two partners the best of luck in the future.
