Worst Bottled Water Brands

People love their bottled water in our culture, and I'm sure you know the reasons why you should stick to tap water.  However, here's a little more insight into the bottled water industry.  The EWG released a report and "graded" bottled water brands.

Did your favorite make the grade?  You might be surprised...even Whole Foods flunked!

Only THREE types earned the highest grades possible:  Gerber Pure Purified Water, Nestle Pure Life Purified Water, and Penta Ultra-Purified Water.

The brands with the lowest marks were:  Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water, Vintage Natural Spring Water, Sahara Premium Drinking Water, O Water Sport Electrolyte Enhanced Purified Drinking Water, Market Basket Natural Spring Water, and Cumby's Spring Water.  The reason these fared so poorly is because they fail to provide consumers with the 3 basic facts about water on their product labels or their company websites.

Here are the top 10 bottled water brands and their grades:

Pure Life Purified Water (Nestle) - B

Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water (Nestle) - C

Aquafina Purified Drinking Water (Pepsi) - D

Dasani Purified Water (Coca-Cola) - D

Deer Park Natural Spring Water (Nestle) - D

Ice Mountain Natural Spring Water (Nestle) - D

Ozarka Natural Spring Water (Nestle) - D

Poland Spring Natural Spring Water (Nestle) - D

Zephyrhills Natural Spring Water (Nestle) - D

Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine Spring Water (CG Roxane) - F

And as for filtered tap water...EWG gives that an A!  EWG says that if you regularly change your filter, tap water is purer than bottled water.

Read the whole report here.  It includes over 150 different brands of bottled water.
