Are Vegetable Cans Recyclable?
Yes, vegetables cans ARE recyclable.
Veggie cans are made from steel (thought often referred to as "tin cans" because there is a very thin coating of aluminum on the inside). They are easily recycled and are generally accepted by curbside municiple recycling programs. Clean all food contents out of the vegetable can before placing it in the recycling bin. It is no longer necessary to remove the label from the tin can prior to recycling.
Not only are vegetable cans recyclable, but recycling steel saves at least 75% of the energy it would take to create steel cans from raw materials. (That's enough energy to power 18 million homes!)
Thanks to newer can openers which leave smooth edges on the top of your cans, there are many ways you can reuse soup cans around the house.
