Calling All Green Thumbs

Show me your tips!  Your gardening tips of course.  It wasn't a questionable late night infomercial that lead me to, but rather a friend who suggested, not unkindly, that I do something productive with my free time.  It didn't take me long to realize there was no cheesy xylophone music involved, and I wouldn't be seeing any pictures of Jane in her birthday suit draped in ivy.  Maybe it's just me, but it wasn't much of a stretch for my mind to connect the name of this site with the other "fill in the blank gone wild."  I can assure you they are completely unrelated.

Gardening Gone Wild

The site is a great resource for gardeners of all skill levels.  The contributors are gardening professionals who share a mutual love of their work, and their passion shows.  These people are published authors, professional photographers, and all around green thumbs who want to share their knowledge and experience with you.

The Garden Bloggers Design Workshop is a great feature that will increase your gardening knowledge.  I must admit that neither of my thumbs are green.  My sad personal experience extends as far as a couple cacti and an aloe plant.  I have, on occasion, watered the plants of vacationing friends and neighbors, and mowed a lawn or two.  However, after spending some time on the website  I have to say I'm feeling a little adventurous.  The idea of having a personal garden has always appealed to me.  The work seems incredibly rewarding and I know people who swear by it as a means of therapy.  Maybe this time next year I'll be bragging about how good my tomatoes were.  Stranger things have happened.

As an amateur photographer I have to say the Picture This Photo Contest is my favorite part of the site.  The format of the contest is a bit different.  You must post your entry picture on your blog then leave a link in the comment section.  Only entries sent from blogs will be considered, all the more reason to get your own blog at KeenForGreen up and running!  The theme changes monthly, October's being ABUNDANT HARVEST.  The judge for this month's theme has posted some of his own work and the images are both beautiful and inspiring.

While I can't promise any limited time offer freebies by logging on now to, I can say that your time will be well spent.  You might learn something.  Maybe you'll be inspired to plant something, or take a photo of something already growing.  Who knows!  My thumbs didn't magically turn green after visiting the site, but that's not to say that yours won't.
