Since I telecommute, I like to keep some frozen meals in the freezer that I can easily heat up for lunch.  Last week at Whole Foods, I saw these little boxes of frozen mac and cheese.  The price was right, the portion looked good for lunch, and they had a few different varieties.  I grabbed the Farmhouse Mac and Cheese and the Mac and Cheese with Chicken.

I decided to heat the Farmhouse Mac and Cheese in the oven and not the microwave, even though it took over a half hour.   It was worth the wait, and this was the most perfect and simple comfort food on a dreary March day.The downsides?  It's only partially organic; the pasta and milk are organic, but the rest of the ingredients are not.   I also think it needed some salt and pepper, as the sauce was sort of mild.  (But probably very kid-friendly because of that.  Next time I'll have to share with my 16 month old tot to see what he thinks!)  Also, the portion size was good, and it was only 370 calories, but it left me hungry.  You might want a side salad, carrot sticks, or an apple or something to go with it.

It was quite delicious, though.  It had a good homemade taste to it, and the breadcrumbs added the perfect crunch.  The cheese sauce was creamy but not overly so.

I'll definitely buy this again.  It's good to keep in the freezer for when you need a meal in a pinch.

They have lots of other meals, too.  Looking forward to trying more!!
