Overall Rating:

Last spring, when we were about to embark on a trip with Isaac, my then-6 month old, it was suggested that we travel with disposable bibs.  I had seen Pampers disposable bibs at the store before, but it seemed so wasteful.  We brought our regular bibs, but it was sort of a nuisance having to find places to wash them and dry them.  It wasn't a huge deal, just a minor inconvenience.

And then I tried Broody Chick disposable bibs.  They are awesome.  While I still feel it's greener to reuse washable bibs, these are an excellent alternative.  They're great for traveling, and I also now stash a few in my diaper bag for when I forget to pack Isaac's regular bibs.  (Which is far more frequently than I care to admit)I should also mention that Isaac absolutely hates wearing bibs.  Immediately after I put them on, he starts to take them off.  If they fasten with velcro, it ends up on the floor within minutes.  If they fasten with a string or snap, poor Isaac begins yelling at us in baby talk, red-faced, and trying with all of his might to rip it off.   For whatever reason, Isaac is quite tolerant of these bibs.  He even keeps them on throughout the duration of a meal.

These bibs are also fully compostable.  If you're using them while traveling, you can rest assured that they'll biodegrade in the trash.  If you're using them locally, just hang on to them and compost once you're home.

The Broody Chick bibs are a little more expensive than the non-green alternatives.   While a 20 count of Pampers bibs comes to about $5 or $6, a 32 count of the Broody Chick bibs comes to about $11 or $12.   I don't think this is a bad deal, though.   I had previously reviewed the Broody Chick diapers which I found the prices to be out of my reach, but I find the price on these bibs to be quite reasonable.
